This is the 42nd year the local Boca Raton/Deerfield Beach Chapter of Soroptimists has conducted the event.

Soroptimist is an organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world. Leading the Boca Regional contingent of awardees was Louise Morrell, MD, who was given the Soroptimist International’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Morrell, who serves as the Medical Director of Boca Regional’s Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute, has been a champion of multimodality care for cancer patients and is a nationally recognized leader for her role as an educator and clinician in the burgeoning field of cancer genetics.

Dr Martinez, who specializes in Preventative Medicine, has been a driving force in the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Program at Boca Regional’s Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health & Wellness Institute and is implementing a Respite Care Program for families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease.

Named as the Women of Distinction awardee in the Volunteer Category was Terry Fedele. Ms. Fedele serves on numerous committees at Boca Regional and has been active in support of myriad local organizations including the Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, Boca Raton Children’s Museum, the Louis and Anne Green Memory and Wellness Center, the American Heart Association and the Allianz Golf Championship.

Lastly, Jeannette DeOrchis, CFP, received the Women of Distinction Award in the Professional Category. A Senior Vice President with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, Ms. DeOrchis has been a member of committees for the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Ball and the American Heart Association and is involved with Caring Kitchen and Habitat for Humanity.

“We are most proud of these women and salute them for the contributions they make to our Hospital and our community,” said Tom Chakurda, Vice President for Communications at Boca Regional. “The Women of Distinction Award is most noteworthy and strong testimony to the concern, commitment and caring they demonstrate for others.”
